Paralympic hopeful looking for tandem pilot for training

Post by Lister Farrar »

Joanna asked me to pass along this opportunity to help a Paralympian get ready for a tandem race in May. Carly Grigg, a paralpine ski athlete (top two in Canada), is a 2010 Paralympic ski hopeful who is looking for a training partner on her tandem this spring.

She is has partial vision (B2 in paralympic terms), which means she can ride a single on her own. She has a tandem (that fits Barb Biakoloz who is 5'10ish?) as pilot. She has a pilot for the race, but needs help training 2-3 times per week. Even one would be ok, early am ok, needs a day's notice to get the tandem.

She lives on View Street and stores the tandem at Chain Chain Chain, so she can meet you there, or she can pick it up and meet you at her place if the store isn't open.

Steve Lund is her coach and she has ridden with Hugh Trenchard, so she knows what to do with someone fast. She is also interested in riding solo with radios, but she is slower that way.

If you're interested, email joanna.fox@gov.bc.ca.
