Well its finally here. That time of the year we have all been both hoping for and dreading - RACING IS HERE
The first race of the 2009 Victoria Cycling League is this Sunday (March 22) at Newton Heights followed on the 29th by Caleb Pike and then Neild Road on April 5th. All Sunday Races start at 10:30am and probably go about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. More details to follow once the schedule is posted
After these three races are under our belts I expect it will be onto the Wednesday night series for the rest of the Summer with TT Tuesdays showing up in August.
I, for one, am really looking forward to Tripleshot looking like the kick ass team it is for 2009 and to having a bunch of us (fast guys, slow guys, fast girls etc) all show up to these races to HAVE FUN. I have to say the few times we got it right last year (like springing Bill for a win or seeing BigRing John Taylor pounding off the front at Caleb Pike, or watching the magic that is Lister effortlessly move through the pack) it was exceptionally cool to be wearing our gear and feeling a part of it.
These races are about fun and the early season ones are a great opportunity to try out the course and the competition before too much race fitness sets in with the enemy (i.e. everyone NOT in Argyle)! I know my "secret to success" lies more in steady attendance than anything else so come on out and have some fun.
If the weather is nice I propose riding out to the race so if anyone is interested in having a look but not yet prepared to commit (althought that seems somewhat "weak") to racing why not all ride out to catch the entertainment of your fellow Tripleshotters slogging their way up a hill a dozen times. Then take advantage of them on the Interurban sprint on the way home!
So who is in for racing?
Why we rode all winter - RACE SEASON ARRIVES!!!

Everyone. Peter is fit and strong and excited about racing. Now is the time to go for it. He won't be able to stop himself from pulling you round the course.
If selfish doesn't work for you, what about this: Peter is fit and strong and excited about racing. If we all do just a little work, we can deliver a monster to the line. Aviawest won't know what hit them.

Congrats to Scott, Bill, John and Pete. But you guys have your seasons mixed up. Saturday is the Mt Washington loppet for Chris Watt and I(Norm jammed out). Cross country skiing for those of you who haven't had the pleasure. 28 km, ~2hrs of exquisite pain with much better than average scenery.
Then we start training for cycling. Which looks pretty much how we train for xc ski, but without the roller skiing in between. 'Appreciate your patience while I get my legs to go in circles again.
