Russ Hays Ride - Thursday 29 Dec????

Post by Plawless »

Anyone know if the Russ Hays' ride goes tomorrow night?

I went and signed up for the Rapha Festive 500 (500kms between 23-31 Dec) BEFORE I read that you have to do them all outside!!! I am at 200kms (I also didnt learn about it until after cutting Boxing Day short ... rats!). So to have ANY hope to make it I need to ride tomorrow night (at least 60kms), Friday am (at least 60kms) and do the double Hammerfest/OBB ride on Saturday.

Any other takers.....?

Peter, What time does the Oak Bay ride start? What is the usual distance and typical speed? Thanks, BB.

I'm at about 70 km after being scarred for life by Friday's "cyclocross" ride down the side of Scafe Hill. But I'm still hoping to hit the 500.

OBB ride starts at 9 at the store. There's an A and B group about the same speeds as the 3Shot rides. It's a full Land's End loop so you get 90-100 km if you do the whole thing.

in answer to Barton: It goes about 90kms door to door at a B pace to Sidney and then 2 groups from Sidney (A pace & B pace groups). Its winter so the last few weeks it has been a good steady ride going medium to hard from Sidney but no attacks (!!!!! we could learn from this!!!!).

In answer to Dave - you get a cloth patch if you do it. Seriously a CLOTH PATCH!!! :P

I'm at 320km, and plan to go long tomorrow and Saturday to close the gap to 500. But had I known there was a cloth patch up for grabs, well you can bet that I'd have signed up for it! Maybe next year.

You can probably still upload them. Not sure if a Gremlin unit is mandatory. I think I'm at about 270 now after 2 x 100 km today. 50 tomorrow morning and 180 Saturday ought to do it.
