Thanks for trainers

Post by Lister Farrar »

Big thanks to all who loaned trainers for the students to try a trainer session at Oak Bay high yesterday.

Specifically, Eric P, Geoff W. Hugh H, Barb B., Mike A., Eric S.. Alex and Duncan brought their own (Grants do rule the world apparently), and to Eric Simonson for the use of his classroom with dvd player and big screen for movies. 10 students out, for a 45-60 minutes easy ride, and a taste of 'Overcoming' the movie about Bjarne "Jumping off cliffs into the ocean really helps cycling' Riis and the 2004 CSC team, before the subtitles got too hard to read through the sweat, and another 30-45 minutes of Will Farrell in Elf before people suddenly had other appointments to get to. :).

Note to self: pre-screen movies for suitability.

Next winter project: an after dark urban cross ride. Any advice on lights for off road riding?

You can't have too much light off road.
Those little commuter lights are a total waste of time.
Wear them on your head, not your bars.
Ten mile point would be a great place to do that ride.

So, if everyone's already got a 200-300 handlebar light, what additional headlight would be the minimum?

Links welcome.
