Brad, Jim, Alan and I made up one team - old fast mooses. Team #11.
Pacing, it turns out, is easier at UVic than on a hilly course, but I think we did fairly well - me a bit too fast (at least early on) going up and Brad fast going down. We passed two teams and were passed by two teams, including Peter's. To be fair, the Clint Eastwood's caught me at the line and one of them crossed it before me (making it three teams), but by then I'd been dropped, so it doesn't really count
Brad's power, especially going down 
, meant that I knew I'd be off the back in the last 3 or 4 km, but it was about 6 km before that when they mercifully left me in the dust. I must get stronger!I believe we were fourth out of 12 teams. Alan was determined to put together a group that didn't suffer from the time bonuses given to old racers (48 was the minimum age for admission). It sorta backfired: The Clint Eastwood's beat us in uncorrected time. Only by a little I think.
Andrew asked why we raced in Nanaimo if everyone is from Victoria? He was in good spirits, but I think the lack of AC in my old car inspired the question during the drive home. Then I asked him how many cars he had to stop (he was a marshal) and he said; "1". That was another nice thing about the course.
