Sat Aug 13 - sufferfest

Post by leftcoaster »

I only did the first part of the 'pain train' this morning - had to work - but I've never ridden so fast to Sidney.

Our average speed from the Oak Bay Marina, where I hopped on, to the stop at the park in Sidney was 37.3 km/hour.

That's fast!

That was a really good ride this morning. Right from coffee the group was really tight, solid and together. Really good riding from everyone on the way out as we kept it steady and rolled a paceline a lot of the way.

Some clown accelerated on the hill on west saanich right off of lands end, and the ride split up and got harder from there. I ended up in a group with Rob Hasegawa, Neil, Tony, Greg and Mat, and then Simon, who managed to somehow claw his way back on to 6 guys working together on the downhill and flat after the 2nd hill. No idea what the pace was on the way back, but we were moving.

Coffee at fantastico in the sunshine. Great morning. Waited at the interurban parking lot and then at coffee, but didn't see the 2nd group again, hopefully everyone had a good ride in.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Great ride, thanks to Josh for adding an extra dose of pain. The last few Saturday rides we have stayed together until the turn onto West Saanich from Lands End. This seems like a good spot to split into groups.

Good ride indeed! Five of us worked together after Landsend, Hugh, John, Mike, and Geoff and I. We went up Willis, Munns, then Geoff and Hugh turned right on Prospect to Burnside and Mike, John and I turned left on Prospect to West Saaanich, once up the Observatory and then quick to coffee for distance for me of 120. Definitely sufferin'!
