Everyone should do this ride, it's a flat (except for the malahat) ride with a very social vibe. After doing the Tour of Victoria this year and the N2V last year, I'd have to say that the N2V was far more fun, I spent 4 hours meeting and chatting dozens of riders I hadn't met before much like a Tripleshot club ride the group stays together, where as the TDV was set up like more of a race with less chatting time because everyone was in a hurry. And a huge plus is that we are supporting a great cause. Oh and did I forget to mention we get to ride down the highway not just on the crap filled shoulder. My top speed down the malahat last year - 84kph. Hope to see all you new 3Shotters out this year.
Current Winter Gloating point amount - 16730 (and counting)

Hmmm.. a police escort without having to do something criminal? I should drag the whole house out for this one!

Even my sister could join us for the 20K leg. The photos on the event page look like it was really popular last time?

N2V has been cancelled and replaced with the VIctoria2Cowichan Cycling Challenge:

LET’S DO COWICHAN!

The organizers of the Nanaimo2Victoria Charity Ride are extremely disappointed to announce that we are unable to host this event in 2011. Despite four very successful years running the event we were unfortunately unable to obtain the necessary police support to allow the roads to be closed and keep you safe. There was a tremendous amount of work put in to attempting to secure the necessary police resources but at the end of the day it was simply not possible.

HOWEVER, the good news is that we have an EVEN BETTER route planned for the same day! We are super pumped to announce the first Victoria2Cowichan ride! On August 28 at 7 am heading out from the Oak Bay Bikes shop at the Westshore Mall we ride the 150kms to Lake Cowichan where we will be treated to a big feed! The ride will be fully supported and there will be no lead vehicles controlling your speed – that is all on you! Buses will then transport everyone, once they are feeling fat and happy with a belly full of barbeque, back to the Westshore…. unless you make your own arrangements otherwise.

While the roads will NOT be closed and all traffic rules must be followed we are very confident that those who enjoyed the N2V ride will enjoy the even greater challenge of Vic2Cow! Look for further details on the website as we finalize the route. All persons currently registered are invited to transfer their registration but in the event that you don’t wish to “Ride the Cow” we will fully refund your $.

Finally we would like to remind everyone that every dollar raised by you is delivered directly to the BC Cancer Agency locally. We aren’t professional fundraisers etc and feel that all the bucks you bring in should be used to beat the big C.

Anyway we really hope to have you along, and look forward to another awesome ride!

The V2C Team (formerly the N2V team!)

I think this is a very attractive alternative. Good on the organizers for coming back from adversity. I'm in, if I can get out of something else. :(
