Power tap
Anyone used one? It's a rear hub power meter. Thinking of getting one to help folks I coach understand different training intensities. So, it has to be relatively easy to mount and understand, and robust enough to take installing and uninstalling (rental tough, vs finicky).

Save your money and wait for the Garmin power pedals coming out in the fall. Able to compare sit vs stand efforts and individual leg measurements.
Easily swappable between bikes too - no more crank swaps or wheel builds!
Rumored to be under a grand too!

Re: Power tap
Thanks Gavin. The separate measurements would be nice, but that's a finer point than I think I would be making for most folks. Also, the power tap would be a training tool primarily, (IE don't need it for races) so I gather it's just a matter of switching wheels (and maybe wiring w zip ties if it's the older one). Don't need to change cleats either, and the wheel is a standard fit, maybe just the cassette. And even if the Garmin is $900, this might be 1/3 of that, or less.gav_eaton wrote:Save your money and wait for the Garmin power pedals coming out in the fall. Re: Power tap
If you are paying $300 then it's likely a wired one and is not so amenable for use between multiple bikes.
The garmin/metrigear was promised for last quarter, my view is that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Re: Power tap
It's wired. Still have to try it out so I can speak about the set up time.
