Sidney TT - May 10th

Post by Plawless »

Decent turnout in less than totally optimal conditions. We had Jen ("toughest woman alive") breaking out a solid 31:06 (4" faster than last week and only 25" off a PB).

Also Roland MAY have learned that killing yourself on the morning ride isnt a recipe for a successful TT as this week (after riding in the B's in the am) he was a whopping 2:42 faster than last week. Also he was only 14 seconds off his PB from 2009. HMMMMM. Does anyone think Roland will learn from this?

Then we had Flounder busting his ass in his second ever TT. I have to report that he struck fear in the hearts of many who were left shaking their heads as he blazed to a 3rd place overall (1 second behind Jamie Cameron....) in a time of 24:45 (which means an average speed of 42.18km/h!!!!) Watch for great things here as if this "natural climber" can do this on a flat TT he is going to do amazing things (amazing = painful for us).

I also rocked the flat course. Man do I love a flat course! I PB'd and am now thinking that it is possible that I can go under 24' if everything lines up right as I look to peak in August for Provincials.

You forgot abut Glen, or was that intentional after her 'story telling'?

Edit: Results are up: http://sidneyvelo.ca/11Results.htm

Glen did a 29:05, about a minute off her PB of 28:07 in 2004. But that was the old course without the coned corners.

Was Jamie on a TT bike, or Merckx'ing it?

Modified Merckx, road bike with an aero helmet. No aero bars.

That guy is a freak of nature this year.

Nice work Dylan. "El Pistolero" is definitely the new nickname. Flounder has to go. Natural climber who can also TT.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Sorry I missed you Glen (pretty unforgivable as your "story" was pretty unforgettable!) and great work rocking it old school style!

Plus to allow me to bask in the glory of poor attendance by the Cat 1/2's results are up: http://duanebc.com/raceresults2011/Sidn ... _10_11.htm

El Floundero. I'm kind of in awe of good TT'ers. I tried a few of them back in 2002/2003 and felt like I sucked, probably because my character was/is pretty doughy and not suited to suffering. There's a good Thursday night series of 15 km TT's out here that would be good practice. Only problem is that Thursday is usually a day off for me, probably better suited to longer morning rides. I guess I'll have to double, in solidarity with TS'ers on Tuesdays.

1991? I thought it was 1991. Great going Dylan. Nice to see your name at the top of the list Peter, showing those young guys up.
