John, thank you for taking point on keeping us informed about the race proceedings. It sounds like an amazing experience and I am scared to have you back out on Tuesdays now....
Congratulations on a great race and great GC result. The domestic pros often say they never really learned about racing until the raced in Europe. Now you are all fully seasoned continental veterans. Respect!

Last report from Sardinia:
Only Dave and I (of the TS gang) entered the Kermesse today - a flat 40 km race in very strong wind (30km/hr-40km/hr). Just controlling the front wheel wasn't easy, at least not during the run into the wind. Not much to say about this one. Unlike all other days, they sorted starters by age, so we got to see the 45-50 yr old guys that have been well and ahead and behind us all week. The group broke up in the strong head winds and in the end Dave and I rode together, crossed the line, and then packed up the bikes.
We all took the train into Cagliari after lunch. Barry's off to another part of the island for a few days, Dave and Marcus fly home tomorrow, and I head north for a month in Belgium. The afternoon and evening in Cagliari has been nice - in a sense, it was our first non-bike-race Italy experience. The race itself did cross beautiful country side and ran through small towns (with buildings at our elbows), but we haven't, until now, sat in cafes and eaten gelato, wandered ancient churches, nor drunken much beer or wine. The resort worked for the race, but isolated from Sardinian culture.
This week felt like a month - mostly in a good way. Watch out for those guys next week.
