No Drop Policy

This morning seems a good time to remind everyone that Tripleshot has a no drop policy on its group rides. After a sprint when we are doing laps of the box on Tuesdays, let's make sure that everyone is attached to the group before pedalling away. I'd suggest that people at the front ensure the group is together before making the turn onto Cadboro Bay Road.

It's important that people who might not be the strongest feel as though they have a place in the group and not off the back, otherwise we may not see them out too many more times.

Great way to work on your fitness is to stay behind and pull weaker riders or finish the sprint and turn around and go pull any stragglers.

How about b/c Tuesdays rides regroup after each sprint before the corner of Cedar Hill X and Cady Bay?

It seems to me this is generally what happens but today we slid around the corner a little too far for Paula and Michael to get back on after the first sprint. Geoff and I went back to help so it should have been okay but I was still busted from the 10 k on Sunday and did not have a TT in me today.

Did you guys get back on for the sprint?

I think that is an excellent suggestion. I know I have posted this before but I am of the view that in every group there are 2 critical pieces to a solid Tuesday:

1. Please DONT go around the corner after winning the sprint. You are simply too powerful and strong for the rest of us and are carrying too much speed for me to even think of catching up to you.

2. If I am not "winning" I have to dig in really deep and NOT SLOW DOWN until I am on the back of the leaders.

If the front slows and the back goes fast we all collect quickly and can feel part of the group. But it takes two to tango......

It also depends where the sprint starts, if it starts on Henderson or earlier, there are going to be people 30+ seconds off the back. Stop, foot down, regroup, gets things back together and moving again much faster than rolling half the box at 25 km/h when the chasers are chasing on at 28 km/h. Remember, the reason they are off the back is because they've already blown up. They aren't going to be chasing on fast. Or, leaders of the sprint double back, and pick up the trailing riders.

Doubly important on combined A/B rides or when A riders drop down.

Same rules should apply if some dumbass fumbles his bottle.

Our TS no-drop policy rules!

Long story short....introduced myself as a "visiting rider" on a club ride in the desert outside Palm Springs last week. Imagine my surprise at then being left behind over a dropped chain! The pack just rode right past me. I chased, but made the wrong choice at the proverbial fork in the road, leaving me to spend the next two hours wandering about trying to find my way home.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I suppose it's also possible that my pasty white-boy legs simply scared the bejesus out of them.
