racing tips and etiquette

Hey everyone,

I'm going to give racing a shot this year, locally and at the world police and fire games in nyc but with no experience and such a short amount of time before things get going I could use some input. I'm mainly looking for proper etiquette practices but at this point any tip will do. Thanks in advance and see you all on the road soon.

Nice ride today! Not sure if you know, but you pulled me all the way from the back to the front along Latoria and then did an awesome sprint! Still doing WPFG? That's a cool event. I did the timing for all the road cycling events two years ago in Vancouver - side-by-side drag race sprints, hill climb, time trial, crit, road race. You should do 'em all! They might not have the identical set of events but it should be something similar.

Thanks Sylvan, I wasn't sure if I pulled ahead enough from everyone on the hill or not but I was glad to see it be another triple shot that was going to take me at the line. All "B" TS's had a great race...super psyched to have been apart of it. I just finished signing up for the crit, TT and road race in NYC and WPFG. I'm going to take a few days to just see the city so only doing those 3 but I'm pumped for it. How was the competition when you did the timing? I've heard there's some ridiculous riders out there.

Yeah, seriously, it was WAY intense. There was a big rivalry between the Belgians and the Italians and it got a bit nasty a few times. There were a couple of ex-pros. Imagine, the guy is a pro 'til he's in his 30's then retires and becomes a cop or firefighter, but keeps training and shows up to WPFG! There were some fast guys.
