Re: La Primavera
He's not the next Merckx or Motta.
He's the first Adam de Vos.
The Boss.

Re: La Primavera (great article ...)
A day before this great race, here is a little later retrospective from Cycling News. What a great article. I never tire of reading about what 7 Eleven went through, or rather put themselves through, in those early days of American pro cycling's foray into European racing. Lister, this might elicit a chuckle or two from you?

Re: La Primavera (great article ...)
I have to say I found that quite refreshing. Certainly more like racing for most of us. A contrast with the machine-like efficiency and ruthlessness of radio-controlled big biz teams. Also a good reminder of how fallible the organization of cycling was, and, I think, still is.RyanC wrote:A day before this great race, here is a little later retrospective from Cycling News. Re: La Primavera
Any good links to watch the race live tomorrow?
Re: La Primavera
There should be plenty on cyclingfans.com and steephill.tv. They're saying coverage will run from about 6:30 to 9:00 our time.Stéphane Tran wrote:Any good links to watch the race live tomorrow?

Anyone else think Cancellera blew it by going left?

Re: La Primavera
Maybe. I am curious about your take on the last 300m, Lister. From where I sit, Goss just seemed to have better legs. Cancellara's tactics looked okay as he set himself up in 3rd wheel going into the last bend and then when the sprint started he appeared to make the best choice, breaking left to avoid being boxed in. It seems pretty clear from the ugly face that he was in trouble early and his form in the sprint seems to confirm that, whereas Goss made clean jump and held it to the line. I am a big fan of Spartacus but in this case I think he was just out-gunned. Your thoughts?

Re: La Primavera
Nope, I don't think there's any way he or any of the others could have beaten Goss. Unless maybe Pippo had let Gilbert get away, but then somebody else would have chased him down. Nobody had the legs to get away solo. It's the sprinters' monument, and there was only one sprinter in the lead pack. It was over at the top of the Poggio.Lister Farrar wrote:Anyone else think Cancellera blew it by going left?
