Team Event: March 12th: Langley

Post by Roland »

There was talk of hitting another spring series on Saturday the 12th. Who is interested in going?

Logistics: Taking the first ferry got us to the race about an hour before the start. This race is closer to the ferry, so we should arrive 1 1/4 hours before the start, which is plenty.

The B race is easier than VCL A but harder than VCL B. The C race is easier than VCL B. The Novice race looked reasonably well attended with about 16. I'd say if you are in the mix for a TS B ride you'd do ok in C. If you do TS A you'll be ok in B. Josh & Adam should probably be in A.

The whole day cost about $75 plus food. Adam's mom sent muffins. A reservation on the 3 might be a good idea if you need to be home by 5pm.

If you are a glutton for punishment, you can do a double header with a mountain bike race on Sunday at Mt Work.

So, who is interested?

Dylan, I might be tempted to do Sunday. It's a great rolling course with a long, steady rouleur's climb and lots of places to get away. If we can get a third and we don't mind paying overheight, we can make it somewhat more cost effective.

Since the new ferries went into service, they no longer charge overheight.

Thx Roland,

Anyone else interested in doing Sunday's race? Maybe a double-header Sat-Sun? I am planning to join Josh Saturday morning but those doing Saturday's mainland race might enjoy twice the racing!

Sundays race travel expenses could be something the Tripleshot Race team funds could contribute a bit towards to help bring the cost down if only two of you end up going. If you can't find a third person, the race team could cover 1/3 of the total travel costs with you guys.

Ryan should be a serious contender for the win if he races B, and Dylan needs to race B as well, after being bored to tears in the C race last week. Some hills in the course to take advantage of his fitness to weight ratio can't hurt either.

Thanks for the kudos, Josh,

I encourage anyone with a desire to really burn out the winter carbon to consider Sunday's race. Rain or shine; it's worth the trip. I will gladly do the driving. I can fit two bikes on top and one (plus gear) in the hatch. My stereo was stolen last fall, so I am willing to consider bonus points if you can tell a good story (or three) or can sing decent 70's tunes.
