Giro de Sardegna Pros

Post by JohnT »

There's a professional version of the Giro de Sardinia (they warm up the audience for us in April). Anyway, Team Spidertech has riders in it including five Canadians, Svein Tuft, David Boily, Francois Parisien, Kevin Lacombe, Martin Gilbert, and Will Routley. Stage I was completed today. None of our guys are doing that well in the overall standings, but it's early days and most of the SpiderTech guys are not that far back either.

Before anyone has a chance to correct me, six Canadians, not five.

It was epic. Will Routley flew the new Spidertech Canadian National Champion's jersey all day long in a 2-man breakaway right from the start of the stage. He finally blew up and finished 8 minutes down after being 8 minutes up, but that's the life of the breakaway hero. He's second in the points classification and leads the mountains classification. Ryan Anderson had a good ride for Spidertech at Trofeo Laigueglia on the weekend, 13th place in a pretty stacked field. He just missed the final 10-man break punched mostly by Ballan and Basso.

Stage 2 today, Svein Tuft tried to get in an early break with Robbie McEwen and a few others but it got shut down. Then David Boily made it into the break of the day. Liquigas finally pulled it back, but it was Cunego who won from two Andronis and leader Sagan, the pro manchild.

Steve Bauer and David Boily early in the race!

Hey sylvan,

Have you found an english torrent for this race? All I can find is the Italian versions.

No, but cycling is like opera - best appreciated in Italian.

Still tickets available for La Boheme on Thursday and Monday. Saturday is sold out. There will be English surtitles unlike watching Italian bike race torrents.

Results link below. Two from Spidertech in the top 40 and a Canadian wins the King of the Mountains jersey.

The spideys done good. It was a really hard race and they had somebody in the break almost every day. Then today there was an extra one-day race tacked on to the end of the Giro. Most of the top guys like Cunego, Sagan, Oss, Sella, etc, got away in a 22-man break, no Spideys, and the completely knackered bunch gave up and got pulled off the course. 21 finishers in the end!

Did you see that Erinne Willock won her first race yesterday for her new team? http://www.teamtibco.com/

TIBCO/To The Top Wants To Win The NRC

Fresh off its training camp, the TIBCO/To The Top took its first win of the season at the Merced Criterium this weekend on a solo move by Erinne Willock. A good start for the second-year UCI team.

Erinne has some quality shades. I think Josh would approve:
