Did anybody ride this morning? Somebody must have a snow bike.

I rode downtown on my mountain bike (knobbies and disc brakes). Much less slippery than I thought it would be. Quite pleasant, except for drivers that felt compelled to pass even though the lane was barely a car wide. But I was doing 15 km per hour and them about 17, so it felt low risk, just annoying some are so brainwashed into bikes being a nuisance. (in best robotic voice: "duhh, must pass bike. Bikes are obstacles. Must pass. Must pass. Must pass.")

Re: Snow Days: then and now
So much fun. Some guy on a full suspension MTB passed me suggested that my 35mm tyres might have been the wrong tool for the job this morning. I told him that he had brought a bazooka to a fist fight. We happily rode the rest of the way together insulting the other's chosen sport.
The cables all froze up and I was getting nothing out of the rear brake, the derailleur was covered in ice and was on auto-shift, even running at 35 PSI the bike was twitchy as hell.
Man I can't wait to ride home!

Anyone else think we need a spring cross season? Or maybe better, our own Hell of the Island? Tours des Routes Gravier?

Speaking of Tours des Routes Gravier, the time is now to register for the "Hell North of the Fraser", otherwise known as Barry's Roubaix. Eight 10 km laps, with 4km of each lap on the gravel roads of the pitt meadows dyke.
