Re: Sunday epic?

Ron and Andy: 6 am switch bridge. Any other gravel heads who want to come are welcome. Ron text me in the morning so I know what you’re up to and Andy, I should get your number.

Re: Sunday epic?

I’m pretty sure we will be going regardless of weather.

Just like we both did last time, pack a puffy and more gear

Re: Sunday epic?

I don’t like the notion of a ride like this being a drop ride for a couple of reasons. The first ethic of backcountry travel is that you look out for the well-being of your companions (much like the ethos of this club). The second reason is it’s just more fun to ride with people rather than leave th...

Re: May 2 - Ride for Water - Chilliwack

I’m a dirt bag at heart so camping or cheap accommodation is much more my style. I’ll be riding whatever the longest distance is. If we all split an air bnb it might be quite affordable and much more fun that is all getting our own accom.

Good chance I’ll be bringing the fam up for this if the weather is good. We would be camping.

Re: May 2 - Ride for Water - Chilliwack

If there’s a bunch of us let’s definitely get an air bnb otherwise I’ll just sleep in the back of my truck. I have room for 5 passengers in my truck and 5+ bikes in the back plus gear so carpooling is certainly an option. And the Comox ride looks pretty awesome also. Perhaps we do a similar thing fo...

I’m lying in bed in cardiac short stay and reading this post-ablation. We can all have a sample size of one to look at percent success rates of treatment.

Re: Angry TC opinion column on soft-ground damage by "Selfish, obtuse cyclists"

I think is great that the article has generated so much conversation in the club. It was just an opinion piece but does represent the view of many people in the general public and I see it as a good reminder for why we need to continue to be ambassadors for cycling. The author makes several claims t...

Re: May 2 - Ride for Water - Chilliwack

I’m down for doing that. I’d probably just camp out for it to save some money. Or take the fam and hit the hot springs at Harrison afterwards.

I’ll put it in the calendar.

Re: Sunday epic?

Claire and Mark, come ride with Ron. It’s likely going to be soaking wet and we will need all the body heat we can get when huddling to keep warm as we suffer through a mechanical while getting more and more hypothermic. It sounds like there’s a small enough group of us to go as one.

Re: WANTED - Gravel Drop Bars

Hey Martin. Briefly, dirt drop bars and gravel bars have a flare (drops are vertically bent away) and sweep (drop portion horizontally bent out). Reasons are: - better on single track. Meant to be primarily ridden in drops where you have more control. - a more natural hand position - shallower drop ...

Sunday epic?

What’s the plan for Sunday folks? No multiple rides competing for attention?

I’d love to get out for some distance Sunday am.

Ron Skip Ritchey. All the gravel riders like Salsa. Oak bay stocks both the cow chipper and wood chipper. https://salsacycles.com/components/category/road_handlebars/woodchipper You can have a look at them downstairs. It’s a very popular bar with tour divide riders due to the small drop and wide fla...
