Re: Road Safety - how do we maximize it?

James - the individual letters absolutely help. And the slow drip helps as well. All of our provincial wins have come this way - a slow, steady drip of relentless advocacy over many months and years. It sucks that it takes that much to move the province, but that is the way it is. So even one letter...

Re: Road Safety - how do we maximize it?

Hey all - Corey from Capital Bike here Great discussion above. As Lister, Shawn and others who I've chatted with know, we at Capital Bike have been working on this for a bit. Definitely something that TS can help with. Two big pieces that jump to mind right now: 1. Making sure we have a broad coalit...

Re: Updates on plans for Goose and Lochside

It did. The next steps are public engagement on the plan and then detailed design later this year. Involvement from bike riders of all sorts is key - sports riders as well as those with kids.

Re: Come to the GVCC AGM, Oct 25th

This sounds great, but it is the same night as the Cycling BC AGM. https://cyclingbc.net/about/agm/ CBC has heard our Island voices and is bringing the AGM to Victoria this year so that we can attend. Bummer, Eric Ya, crappy. We had already set and announced our date for the GVCC and Bike to Work V...

Come to the GVCC AGM, Oct 25th

The GVCC is holding its AGM on Oct 25th at 630pm. We have special guest Dale Bracewell, the Manager of Transportation Planning for the city of Vancouver, and will be doing a joint AGM with the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society. I would love if some Tripleshot folks could come and please spread t...

Re: Introduction

I love the wide, one way bike lanes such as the one on Johnson St. I would prefer to see these on each one way road downtown. Easy to understand, cheaper that the two-way paths, without the need for complex lights, timing and rule changes. Cyclist don't mind moving over one block to travel in the s...

Re: Introduction

Welcome Corey! Top my list on advocacy would be: Widen the goose, wide-ish bike lanes on Dallas/beach/waterfront route, more bike lanes, keep the bike tracks coming in busiest places. Widen (and add lights to) the Goose and other regional trails has been a long term aim. Regional Planning staff tol...

Introduction

Hey all - figured I should create an account here given all the bike-related stuff I do. I am the Policy & Infrastructure Chair for the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition and as such, I lead our Advocacy team. The GVCC is always working to be as big-tent as we can be (we were founded to be a coa...
