Re: Monday Oct 12 Ride

We took the trail from where you left us (and then found us again 45mins later) out of the dump to the "Interurban Rail Trail" beside West Saanich, then through Camosun to Layritz park. Ian and Rita split off at that point to take trails towards Mt Doug. Roland and I continued through Layr...

Re: Monday Oct 12 Ride

A great ride! Definitely a do-again.

Next time, however, I will ensure Roland and I each bring *multiple* spare tubes, several pumps and a collection of C02 inflator nozzles. Apparently one of each for each of us was woefully inadequate.

Additional bananas would have been nice too.

Re: Monday Oct 12 Ride

Looks like you can link Thetis to Prospect Lake or Munns Rd through Francis King. I think there are trails somewhere near there that take you to the dump. Looks like West side of Elk/Beaver is bike legal. Here are some maps that might make planning easier: http://www.crd.bc.ca/parks/map.htm" on...

Re: Cross on the Rock 2009 - Race #2 Kona Cup

I raced in the Open Women's category, which starts 30 seconds after the Master's Men. There were 11 women on the start line, and 17 Masters Men. The Open Women's category has quite a range of abilities, including some really fast racers. My plan was to pace myself off my heartrate monitor (when you ...

Re: Running Makes You Sick

While it is my general policy to blame all illness, ailments and injuries on running, I believe this bout of sinus grossness was likely brought on by receiving a full gob of someone else's spit on my head during the ride on Saturday. Yuck!

Re: Cyclocross Race Report: Beban Park

Despite having dead legs from N2V, the race was a lot of fun. That course gets better every year - and this year they even removed the dreaded run-up! The first 2.5 laps felt pretty solid, though sluggish, but then it started to get much much slower and there didn't seem to be anything I could do ab...
