Re: 'Cross Wheels & Tyres

Roland, have you ever had a problem getting into an spd because of mud? I can't say I have. I have. Late season races get *really* muddy and I found it really frustrating clipping in to spds. With all the running in 'cross your cleats get clogged pretty quickly and then it's tough to clip in. Bigge...

Re: Underground CX - Wed Sept 22

Loved that course. Technical sections, fast sections, great traction. I was able to ride the whole course each lap, which I was really happy with. The steep section Josh & Gavin mentioned looked chewed up at the bottom, so I was never sure if I would be able to ride through it, but I actually fo...

Re: Fall Gear Order

If you have a long torso (like me), you might just have to accept that your jersey & shorts won't meet when you are standing, sitting up, running, walking, cyclocrossing, mountain biking, etc... Mine don't. The women's jerseys are short and don't really get that much longer when you move up a si...

Re: Starcrossed CX & Rad Racing GP

What an awesome weekend of racing! Starcrossed is an incredible event - over 600 racers in 10 categories and 7 start times, it's great racing at every level. I raced in Women Cat 3/4 (70 racers) that started 15 seconds after the Women Masters 35+ category. There were 109 women on the 2.8km course fo...

Wanted - rear derailleur, seat post & crank

I am looking for a few components so I can finish rebuilding my old 'cross bike. I'm hoping to buy some of this stuff used & cheap! Does anyone have any of the following lying around that they are willing to part with? 1. rear derailleur 2. seat post (27.2mm) 3. compact crank & bottom bracke...

Re: Champion Systems or Canadian Supplier?

ChampSys is cheap and convenient, but the quality of chamois & fabrics is unimpressive and sizing is bad. I like the look of the Tripleshot kit, but will only wear it on short rides when my other stuff is in the laundry. I would pay extra for higher quality stuff, but I would like to see samples...

There is a bike cleaning station with some hoses at the base of the chair lift.

Re: GranFondo

Ran into a guy in the Whistler village who had just finished pre-riding the GrandFondo course. He wasn't really able to say much, but described it as "gruelling" several times.

Have fun next weekend!

Re: Naming our rides (my rant)

When I was in the grade 1 (the first time) the reading groups were divided into the Lions, Tigers, and Elephants. I guess the teachers thought it would fool the dumb kids. Except as one of the dumb kids it never fooled me. I knew darn well what an Elephant meant. And I was OK with it. Our books had...

Re: As Winter Approaches...

Looks like OBB has some good deals on Chilli Con Crosso's. I have a 2008 Chili and love it. I ride it year round as a road bike as well. I sold my road bike when I bought the Chili frame, and found the Chili far livelier than the road bike, and it comes to life when it ventures off road. It does hav...

Re: Tech Stuff - Garmin

I have been using an Edge 500 since February. In that time, it has not: 1. fallen off the handlebar mount and into the Gorge 2. fallen off the handlebar mount into bushes ...somewhere in a Nanaimo park... 3. not fallen off during a crash, resulting in a smashed lcd Also, I have not broken any mounts...

Sunshine Coast Trail Challenge

Way back in April I won an entry to the Sunshine Coast Trail Challenge at a Simbs movie night. It's a 2 day 90km mountain bike tour of the Sunshine Coast, starting at Halfmoon Bay, camping at Porpoise Bay in Sechelt, then finishing in Gibsons at the Langdale ferry terminal. There were 210 riders thi...

Re: Sunny day in the bike park

Yes, it actually left several marks... and some swelling... It also left a few new gouges in my helmet!

I must have looked rough when I returned to the Rocky tents a few runs later, cause Wade Simmons came over and said "woa you look like you went DOWN!" and asked if I was ok.

Sunny day in the bike park

Saturday was Roland and my 6th anniversary, so we decided to spend the day riding in the Mt Washington Bike Park. Rocky Mountain was doing a promo day and had demo bikes to ride, so after a few runs on my trusty Slayer, I borrowed a Rocky Mountain Flatline (a real bike park bike). Turns out the Flat...

Re: Windsor Park Crit - who's racing C?

Just got this from Gillian at OBB: C race: we will make a decision morning of, but I think most likely we will end up running a C race at 830 (when the B race was scheduled to start). It may end up pushing the other races back a bit but that's ok..and if we get a good field that will be awesome for ...

Windsor Park Crit - who's racing C?

The OBB organizers have asked for an approximate number of racers hoping to race C this Sunday. They reiterated that decision to have a C race will depend on how many show up on Sunday, but if we can send the an approximate count ahead of time, it will help them plan the day.

So who's racing C?

Little known fact: Roland chose to wear women's footwear on the podium. http://tripleshotcycling.servebbs.com/download/file.php?id=136&t=1 And of course, no race report is complete these days without a proper Tripleshot Victory Salute: http://photos.rabien.com/Road-Cycling/Para-Cycling-Nationals...
