Re: Group Riding during covid

Thank you, Martin, and the Executive for your hard work on this. Has the Executive considered seeking input from the TS membership in general on the questions of when and how to restart Club rides?  There is a massive amount of mental horsepower within the Club, separate from the Executive, and pers...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

I won't weigh in on the latest science and chance of transmission between people. Please do Claire, after 40 years as a working scientist I'm still all ears. And while you're at it, and out of respect of my privacy, please remove my name from your ad hoc list. As you well know, I'm private on Strav...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Great route and idea, Claire, and out respect for your initiative and work I am not going to post a silly gif. :D. p.s. For the Stuckylife ride, I simply clicked on the link on my iphone, and followed the blue line through Strava. p.s.s. Claire, I'll private message you to let you know where you can...

Could you not have let me down a little more softly, Rolfie? (Especially in the middle of a global pandemic.)

Re: Solo rides

Basically: my understanding is that our experience of life will now be indoors and electronic, save interactions with the select few with whom you choose or are obliged to cohabitate. We are not "sheltered in place" or "locked down", Rolf. As far as I know, the two-meter and < 5...

Re: Solo rides

I agree with Claire here, and can even admit to hesitating on offering those well-earned “kudos” on Strava when it’s clear that riders are obviously still heading out in pairs or groups. I can’t help seeing it as a pretty flagrant flouting of civic duty in this context. Sure, you can tell yourself ...

If you aren’t working or things are just tight and you run out of food, please don’t go to sleep with an empty stomach. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message, text, call. I will be more than happy to share what food I have. We will never speak about it again. I will drop and go...

Re: Solo rides

Thanks you, Rolf. That's really helpful information and advice. It's admitted really hard to know what Johnny Tyre thinks of me https://media.giphy.com/media/BzkSjp227lEFbMKFff/giphy.gif Alan, I know I'm stingy with my feelings, but when it comes to your tight little navy butt I sometimes can't help...

Re: Solo rides

This would be the source of the paranoia: https://covid19.healthdata.org/projection Of course, Hugh. I'm struggling to understand the social distancing guidelines here in BC with respect to riding. In Maryland, solo riding only. In Italy, France, etc. NO riding whatsoever. What are the real or perc...

Solo rides

Ironically, with this pandemic I'm more in touch with colleagues, friends, and family than ever before. One thing that I learnt today from a colleague at John Hopkins (in climate not health) is that only solo riding is permitted in Maryland (except with someone you're living with). On this point, Al...

Stick to routines, or start new routines. Regulate your news monitoring (worth repeating from Claire's great list). Post lots of giphy's. Right, Claire? :D Meditate. If your haven't before, and are interested here's a good place to start . Mantra, optional. http://media.giphy.com/media/G8JSYBYn5LOw...

Re: when is a ride a "group ride"?

Thanks for all of the great advice, peeps. Regarding gravel riding, I agree with everything Wolf Rarburton said. I'll just add that for safety's sake, it's probably a good idea to have a riding buddy or two (subject to the conditions above). Alan, for example, falls a lot, and sometimes on pointy th...

Re: Sunday, March 22 - sheilds lake coffee - CANCELLED (again)

Am I overreacting? Should we keep going? Seriously Ron, I don't think you're overreacting. My (slightly Jameson's influenced) take on this bizarre science fiction movie that we're living in is that UFN we should not post group rides. That said, I'm flexibly (sp?) working from home and happy to rece...

"Normal", I'll take some of that. What are the chances though that by the weekend we'll be ordered to "shelter in place" as 7 million Bay Area folks have been just now   :? 8)

Thanks a lot, Craig. This is not the first time I’ve been reassured by a Tripleshotter who also happens to be an accomplished physician. :D
Thanks from me as well, Craig. Very valuable information.
