Oak Bay Half Marathon

I think the Oak Bay Half Marathon is running tomorrow morning. Not sure if that will impact the regular Sunday ride? I think they are running along Oak Bay ave and some of the waterfront.

Re: Rear wheel switcheroo?

Glad you got your wheel rollin' Claire! But I think you are old enough to have owned a rolodex. I keep one I used to use in my office for a "vintage" feel  Or maybe its just that I'm a pack rat!

Re: G-Force Face....

Alan - I'd be happy to help you with your research as I frequent the women's washrooms at UVic on Mondays, although not looking for birth control. But you'll have to pay me handsomely. And guys come on, you're pretty creative word slingers, but the cliché Canadian slag of the US? And it is cliché. Y...

Re: Stravaholics check your privacy settings!

What about the those of the assaultive criminally minded ilk? Hmmmm, I like the looks of this young lady on her bike. Oh look, this is where she lives and the route she rides predictably, in the dark, on her own.....

Re: Group Size ( version ...? )

As Tripleshot's only psychologist (I think?), observing the various personalities and social dynamics of this forum discussion of group rides (and the dynamics on the group rides themselves and your stories about them), is quite fascinating and distracting me from the boring tasks of grading end of ...

Wow! I turned off just before the excitement! Kudos to you guys for helping out. There was a purpose to Mandy's flat tire throwing the ride timing off a little bit.

Re: Sunday Feb 7 LSD Alternative

Thanks Tim! That was the kind of ride that makes me SO thankful that I've dragged us all back to Victoria. The scenery was almost distracting from the ride - the pinkish glow of the sunrise over the Olympics, the little waterfalls glimpsed in the rainforest here and there, the gorgeous coves out in ...

Enjoyed reading your trip highlights Rolf! Travel is balm for the soul, eh? Even if it involves plenaries and conference air conditioning (I'm guessing....) Your post has made my feet itchy. Thanks. Greg will have to chime in but he lived in Florida/Georgia for quite a time and I did hear about the ...

Re: Ideal Winter Bike?

Andrew, Technically I do meet the minimum of 3 :D - although that includes my multi-season road ride, my mountain bike and my beach cruiser. Now that we have an official bike room, I guess we should start trying to fill it up. We used to have more but....thieves. As for my sunlight flap, cycling was...

John - Thank you for the giggle. I needed that. Its been a long week(end). Claire - your description of your booties and your circulatory shortcomings (glad you at least have some ) ;-) , matches my own. I just switched over to a pair of pearl izumi booties with I don't know how thick, but pretty th...

Re: Thursday am ride?

Thanks everyone. So it sounds like this isn't exactly a come one and come all ride? Given that the groups have been small lately and I have been on my bike a total of 3 times since Dec. 24 and am nursing a minor skiing injury, maybe I won't be able to find that critical mass to make up a team with m...

Wondering if the Thursday morning ride is still happening? If so, can someone provide details? Where and when does it typically wrap up?

Re: Sunday, Longer

[quote="Lund"] Just to clarify: the "fair game if you fail to show" thing isn't an indiscriminate, anything-goes slag-a-rama. It's not simply about "if you don't show up"; it's about "if you should show up, but don't." This has me wondering, what happens if yo...
