Re: Cross is Here!

I have a new cross bike! I think I can make it. I need advice though - tire pressure? headlamp? What else do I need to know?

Will my sparkly new bike get dirty?

Re: Saturday Oct 1

I'd be into some long and slows out Metchosin way or peninsula (no need to wait till Jan/Feb) if others are interested. Maybe we can plan some Barton-esque rides in the meantime.

Advice on cyclocross set up.

I am hoping that some of you well-versed in bike set up/gear and cyclocross riding can provide some guidance. I have purchased a lovely new cross frame (thanks Alan!) and am in the process of getting it turned into a full bike :D so I can join you out on those fun cross rides. Fairly recently I had ...

Re: The C Ride Advantage?

Completely agree Andrew! Why do we get up so early and push ourselves if not for the soulful aspect of it as well as the fitness. And why do we all live in Victoria? Because its pretty f* 'n stunning so we should be enjoying it. Heads down all the time, well, we might as well be in Saskatchewan (no ...

Looking for a cross bike

I'm in the market for a used cross bike. My road bike is 52 cm. If anyone is selling one, or knows someone who is, please let me know. Much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Barton,

How long do you expect this ride to take? And what time do you expect you'd be passing by Ferndale area?

thnx

Road shoe recommendations

Some of you who've ridden with me lately and heard me whine, know that I am having a helluva time with numb feet. I'm not convinced its my shoes but since it is high time I replace my falling apart specialized road shoes, I'm trying to buy a pair that at a minimum, won't make this worse, and might e...

Big Loop Short Cutters?

Posted on the big loop thread but thought I'd also post this separately to see if anyone is doing a portion of the big loop ride next Sunday? Greg and/or I are considering it, if we can figure out logistics that include kids and a visiting grandma's first day in town. If anyone has a sense of what t...

I'm not sure if its just me, but I can't view the ride loop.

Also, wondering if anyone is planning on doing a portion of the ride?

Thanks!

Re: Completely not cycling related - Canada Day and Kids

Thanks everyone. I think we may bail on the fireworks after all; the more I think about what my day will be like following a midnight bedtime for the littles, the more I don't like the idea, even though sitting on Beacon Hill with the radio playing does sound nice. The more southerly born youngsters...

Re: Wed. morning hammer

Thanks Julie and Rolf. That clarifies things. I kept seeing them and wondering if they were any relationship to a Hawaii-based triathlon group known as Bat Shit Crazy - their kits are fairly similar. But I hadn't wanted to approach one of them to ask!

Completely not cycling related - Canada Day and Kids

Since I can probably reach more folks with kids who live in Victoria (or who once were kids who lived in Victoria), I think this is a better bet for me than Facebook for throwing out my questions. And if Claire can post pics of poops and essays on capitalism this is okay right? ;-) (Although I do th...

Julie, What is BSC?

And yes, would love to see more women out on the QC ride. We're usually a small group and there is nowhere to hide ;-)

Completely agree with all of the above. Karen T and I had this exact conversation as we rode along the Goose to coffee on Sunday (probably too quickly).

Correction Greg. Mandy and Louise (and Julie)'s mother's day ride started with a 730 am meet up, not mid-day, although it was a fantastic mountain bike ride. What's with these lazy dads?

Re: The truth about Garmin

C'mon, I know some of you are old enough to remember Secret Agent training. There is something so oddly nostalgic about riding stealth. Try it. You might like it. The good old days ;-P

And you can slow down whenever you feel like it....public shame free.....
