Injury forced sale... TT+Road Bike, Race wheels, PM + more.

I messed up my back in 2014 and was able to keep riding until earlier this year but have gotten to the point where I can go day to day pain free with yoga/pt/massage, but a 30 minute bike ride puts in me in pain for the next week. Keeping my CX bike in hopes of one day... slice.png 2012 58cm Cannond...

Re: Bike depreciation - is there such a thing?

The dollar has a lot to do with it. A 2016 R3 is significantly more expensive than a 2013 R3 while being essentially the same bike.

Re: disc brakes no longer welcome in pro peleton

My guess is the lawyers did some due-diligence and said "You're still liable until June" and CBC/VCL went "no grace period".

Maybe they can re-insure VCL races as tarmac only cross races?

Re: May 1 Big Gravel

The CRD just officially closed access to the Leech Watershed and your route goes smack through it. No idea if that means impassible gates yet or not but I'm guessing them big red gates are coming.

EDIT- On second look, it looks like you just skirt it, but access may still be tricky.

Are we sure Ventoso isn't a soccer player? “It doesn't hurt....I get off my bike, throw myself against the right-hand side of the road over the grass, cover my face with my hands in shock and disbelief, start to feel sick..." Sounds like he went into shock... some people get rather squeamish w...

Re: Sunday April 10 Gravel Ride

Someone needs to get you boys a compass!

If you hang a left on Kapoor and then a right onto Fleet (which then merges onto Lens) you wind up just a few clicks south of Honeymoon Bay... now there's a loop.

Hopefully I'll be able to join the next time you guys make it out.

Re: Sunday April 10 Gravel Ride

Have fun guys. I'm really wishing my back was healthy and I could ride much over an hour. Depending on the time, I may join for an hour or so up Butler main and head back home. (I live in Sooke) I highly recommend a SPOT or inReach for these kind of rides. There is no cell service for 90% of this ro...

Re: Seeking advice on gravel training, tires

My first suggestion is to go grab the BC Backroads Mapbook.. or better yet the digital version that can be used on your phone. It's only 90% accurate but it's better than nothing. I'll second the loop Roland posted. It's a gooder, I've ridden Butler main to Tugwell many times and driven pretty much ...

Re: Recommendations for awesome women's road/race bike

My wife has 44cm Cannondale Synapse if you're finding if even the other brands smallest bikes are still too big. Other brands were too big, but you've got 3" on her.

Oh yeah... 700c wheels still, toe overlap isn't awful.

I always opted for McDonalds cheese burgers since they fit into jersey pockets better and still have two servings of veggies (pickles, ketchup) per burger!

Re: Sprinting in the dark, dark, dark, dark, dark....

I haven't been out lately because I'm a big wimp, I don't like riding in the dark nor the rain. Hopefully I find the will to HTFU and overcome my wimpyness, but after being wiped out by someone who couldn't hold their line in the VCX start on Wednesday, it makes me even more nervous. That said, I th...

Wanted: SRAM 2x10 shifters

I broke another SRAM Rival right shifter at Cross club tonight during warm up, 36-25 was fun for the "race".

I'm hoping someone has a pair of Apex, new-Force, or Red shifters kicking around before hitting up ebay/chain reaction.

Re: My power metrics on the first group on todays thursday T

I noticed this trend too when I was out a few weeks ago. It'd be even more interesting to run this through BestBikeSplit... I have a feeling that 90% threshold down hill, 110% threshold uphill is faster than a constant 100% threshold and the effect would be greater than if just solo because CdA is p...

Re: New FUN Thursday TS rides for 2014

New guy here, Mike was talking up this ride on the ride this morning...

Just wanted to confirm that the original details are still accurate (pareto @ 6, 2x12-20 @ uvic, moka for coffee) and if TT bikes are welcome or if I'll be the only guy not Merckx'ing it?
