Re: Beware The Goose!

Too bad the information is inaccurate - I lifted the name from the Wheelers forum. But it's not the difficulty - it's the desire, lack of respect, and overall useless piece of information that paints those who believe the act was required and/or justified for who they are. What a terrific example of...

Re: Beware The Goose!

I'd like to know who you are too. One of the things I like best about this forum is the ability to freely exchange ideas among friends. I'm interested in the original topic, not minutiae. How about you actually contribute, if you're as interested in exchanging ideas as you say... Here's my signatur...

Re: Beware The Goose!

Who I am is a red herring, bordering on ad hominem . I love the unmanned speed limit signs, so someone can post a "high score" chart on them... Or take the video of a guy who wanted to see if he could trip the speeding camera on his bike (he did)... To me, enforcement means throwing people...

Re: Beware The Goose!

Despite what the above people say about: us( cyclists) or them( walkers, runners ) SHOULD be going right, left , in the middle, off the side on wider lanes or whatever... it is all B.S., unenforceable or a waste of money...... Bottom line cyclists: SLOW DOWN. The pedestrians, dogs and most runners ...

Re: Beware The Goose!

As a commuter on the Goose, I constantly see people travelling down the middle. In every form of traffic - pedestrian, cyclist, skate/longboard, inline skates... One cyclist I've seen has a stick hanging off the left side to indicate what I believe is a personal space allowance. As they rode down th...

Re: How dangerous is cycling?

It depends on the route. My commute is exclusively on the Goose, so I'm crossing traffic rather than riding in it. It's a lot less hassle than riding streets with or without a cycling lane. But it's not like there aren't risks. Some intersections are poor (IE out by Swan lake), and it can be anybody...

I went to Burning Man, and a cross race broke out.

Results are going to depend on where you are on the Chewbacca scale.

Tire Pressure?

Some I've talked to think that a lot of people run higher tire pressure than is needed. IE: 100+ for someone weighing 140-150. Talking road, not cross...

Are there guidelines of some sort? Does it impact rolling resistance, like tire size does?

Re: Winter Bike Advice

I used to think that cycling was expensive but as others point out, other recreational vices are more expensive. Just take my wife's horse for example... Equestrian isn't even fair to compare. Horse comes down with colic, and there goes the money for a holiday... Gym/swimming pool - anything that's...

Re: The debate over hydraulic disc brakes in the pro peloton

Pros are most validly concerned about getting cut or burnt by hot, sharp, spinning discs in high-speed pileups. That's a red herring. Discs have been CX legal since 2010, and I've yet to hear such horror stories. ...the other concerns are negligible—or could be addressed by further engineering or s...
