Re: Pro News

Sad that this has come down to a popularity contest. Look for an appeal from Li Fuyu (Radioshack) who tested positive for the same drug, in similar quantities. Had the same excuse (meat) and had the same evidence (none). http://www.cyclingnewsasia.com/en/news/43-general/625-china-li-fuyu-claims-inno...

Re: Pro News

"Contador claims that the meat he ate on the second rest day of the Tour de France is the only plausible reason for his positive test for Clenbuterol." I'm at a loss to explain how "I didn't do it" is considered an acceptable explanation. More so given the lack of ACTUAL evidence...

Re: Rainy Feb 4th

The wait in Mt. Doug park finished me off (so cold, so terrible, as Sylvan would say). Home was 3 minutes away, so I decided I was going to bail . By the time we got on Grandview I started to reconsider. Then I dropped my chain. This was a sign which could not be ignored, so I went home.

Feeling young...?

Riding around in the early morning darkness with a bunch of like-minded souls is energizing makes me feel young (albeit, in mindset only). Sadly, it's videos like this that return me to reality. Funny how objects that many of us grew up with are completely foreign to the younger generation. http://w...

Re: Tues Feb 1

It was painful. I need to be having a good day just to hang on. Today was not one of those days. Managed to hang on until KGT, then the pace jumped and I was gone. Alan: Apologies for dropping out and leaving you with a gap to close. Would have been a lot bigger if I tried to gut it out so I think t...

The nyvelocity site appears to be having problems.

Re: good news from champ-sys

Hey Josh,

I was going to nab some size L leg warmers (they're the black ones, right?) but based on the numbers, didn't think they would go through.

Any chance of getting that in or am I too late.

Re: Contador Banner 1-Year, Stripped of TDF Title

The reason for 1 yr instead of 2. Marca said the Spanish Cycling Federation will propose a sanction of one year rather than two because “no one has been able to show how the substance entered” his body, together with the minute quantity of clenbuterol detected. I wasn't aware that the mechanism by w...

Victoria Gran Fondo

http://www.victoriagranfondo.com/ This one seems to have taken a back seat to the Tour de Victoria in terms of visibility.... I want to give the pacific circle route a go at some point, but the lingering concern of having a major mechanical in the middle of nowhere with no support weighs on my mind...

Re: Speedplay pedals

Never used them, but given the behavior, can't say it's a company I'd like to deal with. I think the companys position regarding liability has merit since they would have to defend themselves in a lawsuit, even if they had no liability. The rest of it seems like harassment designed to scare the guy ...

Re: Wheels

The hub on the Rol d'Huezzes seems the best I've ridden, better than the Neuvations were and better than Fulcrum Racing 5's. The $400 range Rol Volants have the same hubset so I'd be tempted to go with them. Another wheelset not to ignore is the Hed Bastogne. These are light (sub 1500g) and bombpro...

Re: Death to Bugs

I heard from Allan that Ring Road also had water issues.. sprinkler heads soaking what would otherwise be dry conditions? I think a little sprinkler water is a minor irritant given the water "issues" we experienced last Friday.... If I see Galen doing Friday in the wrong direction, I'll k...

Re: road test: rain gloves

Lister,

Mine did fill with water today, but still kept the wind out so my hands stayed reasonably warm. The gloves underneath were already soaked so didn't notice until I tool a drink and the water drained out of the glove and up my sleeve. Brrrrrrr.

Re: SPRING race kit gear order

So is there ANYTHING that one can wear when it is pouring rain out and not get wet from the inside or the outside? Ah, yes. The holy grail of outdoor athletic wear. Waterproof-breathables like Gore Tex are always trying to get there, but I've yet to find a fabric that actually does this perfectly. ...

Re: Upgrade Points

All of you potential sandbaggers are well known to VCL organizers, so the chances of hiding in the B pack and scooping points are slim. I plan on outing anyone else. I have enough trouble in the B's, so I don't need a bunch of A's drilling the pace and making my experience (and others) more miserabl...

Re: Ultergra vs DuraAce vs Scram Red

I would say 105 or rival is more than good enough for the needs of anyone in this club. The differences are very small from there up. If you can find a good deal on some lightly used 7800 dura ace, or something like that, that might be worth it to pick it up. +1. I've got 105 shifters and they do a...

Re: Wheels

I've added the Shimano RS80 to my list of possible candidates. As far as I can tell, they're the Dura Ace 7850 CL rim with the Ultegra hub.

I'm also looking at the Neuvation R28XL Series. Based on the reviews, they seem like a good deal, but would interested in any first hand experience.
