Re: Fender Recommendations?

Thanks. I called almost every bike shop I could find in Victoria and although most of the good shops carry them, everyone is sold out. Broad Street went above and beyond (thanks!) and called their distributor for more info and then called me back. They were told: - Current SKS Raceblade Long model i...

Re: Fender Recommendations?

Thanks all, sounds like consensus on the Race Blades. Is there a shop in Victoria that stocks them or do you have to order online? I don't mind taking the chance on ordering and sounds like if they didn't work out it probably wouldn't be too hard to part with them on here.

Fender Recommendations?

Well, I was really hoping to find a cheap winter bike and keep my other bike for summer only, but it's not to be. And all of this rain lately is really limiting my riding time, so I'm thinking of finally investing in fenders. Any recommendations? Do the various brands all generally perform as good a...

Re: Critical Incident Report

I spend a fair amount of time on advrider.com (my other two wheels came with an engine...). They have an entire subforum called Face Plant for this same idea. Opportunity to share, whether solo or group, what went wrong and what could have been done to avoid it. Good idea! (and while sort of on the ...

Re: Sunday, Again!

Don't misunderstand me. If the roads are actually dry it's fine to come out on summer bikes. Its one of the great things about Victoria. It's more a matter of ensuring that if it's questionable I think too often people choose badly.... So to me anything other than bone dry plus a good weather repor...

Re: Sunday, Again!

Great, thanks Peter. That's the type of candid advice I was looking for. I'll go out solo instead tomorrow until I get a chance to pick up and install some fenders. Still new at all of this...

Re: Sunday, Again!

Do you think fenders will be required for tomorrow's Sunday ride? I haven't installed any yet. Looks like sun and clouds for today and tomorrow. Perhaps it will be dry enough?

Re: Winter Bike Advice

Thanks for the tips and suggestions. I very much like this one as an option I can share with my wife and then also use as a winter bike (she'll only ride in the summer): http://www.tripleshotcycling.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5266 Just not quite in the price range yet for a second bike. My wi...

Re: Winter Bike Advice

I'm in the same boat looking for winter bike ideas. However, hoping to keep costs quite low...around the $500 mark. Not sure if I can find anything at that price point though.

Re: Today's B2 crash

Thanks for posting some of the additional details. As a new rider I'm not sure which I fear more, being in a crash or causing one (and I think it's the latter!). So reading threads like this and the other one, "Who's at fault" are quite informative. Thinking of my riding now I don't think ...

Issue resolved - Called Garmin and even though the warranty has expired, they're going to honour it and replace the watch! Talk about customer service! They figured the GPS chip is faulty.

Re: Garmin newbie seeks Garmin guru

Hey, if you don't get any better offers I'd be happy to share what little I know. Some caveats though (and why you might want to wait for something better!): - I'm new to the club and road cycling in general. Really enjoying the Sunday rides. - I don't actually own an 800 and in fact, couldn't even ...

Garmin 410 woes - RESOLVED

I tried to find a Wrenching or Tech subforum here but couldn't find one. Apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong spot. Has anyone had elevation and speed problems with a forerunner watch and been able to fix it? I noticed over the last few months my speed increasingly dropping to zero even though...

Proper road bike now purchased!

Will ride on my own for a few weeks to get used to the different gearing and controls and then back out for some more rides with all y'all. Thanks again for the encouragement!

Re: Sunday ride - on a hybrid?

Thanks everyone for the great ride today and hope I didn't slow anyone down too much! I will be out for more in the future and hopefully on a proper road bike. I was pretty intimidated when everyone first rolled in this morning, but was pleasantly surprised with the great welcoming and friendliness ...
