Re: Fall/Winter Gear Order

Not having followed all the forums, I'm glad I caught news of the new gear order deadline before today's ride - it's now only a matter of time before I'm clad in the baby blue (you'll notice the lack of winter gear on the order; still not going to ride in the dark til I get a "winter bike"...

Re: Would you race on this frame?

From the eggbeater pedals, it looks like it's being used for racing cross (if it isn't, it should) - which means the worst that is likely to happen is that the stay will fold under your mighty torque as you slowly emerge from some sticky mud - if the wheel jams as the stay collapses, you bail in slo...

saddles and post

I have an Easton EC70 carbon post (31.6 mm dia.) with single bolt polished aluminum head for $60 - Ok, $40 for Tripleshot. Super tough - good road or cross post. Two Selle Italia saddles: - SLR gel flow, black leather with carbon fiber base, Vanox rails and center cutout - $50. A thin, light racing ...

"Galen the Gremlin" - good one... I knew there had to be some form of "artificial intelligence" at work here.

Re: V2N-N2V postscript

Did you know there's a typo gremlin who lives at the Tripleshot site? He has a hilarious time switching letters and words, as in the V2N-N2V postscript: "Now this is BIKE handling" becomes "Now this is shoe handling" ... What? I sure wasn't thinking of shoes when I wrote that... ...

V2N-N2V postscript

As the days get shorter and the prospect of catching a weekday ride starts to dwindle (I'm not yet at the stage where a wheel-to-wheel hammerfest in the dark - much less in the dark and the rain, Belgian-style - is an attractive concept), I thought I would take a minute to say a general thanks to th...

Re: Victoria to Nanaimo before Nanaimo2Victoria

Since I have yet to experience the joy of flats, count me in. I do find the idea of the 'hat in darkness a little unnerving - Peter and Jeff, will either of you have those turn-night-into-day lights? (at the moment I just have MEC blinkies) Also, do you want to meet at some place south of the switch...

Victoria2Nanaimo the day before?

Peter's comment about getting in "a really solid day" - understatement? - got me thinking - what about a group going up the day before, [Friday Sept. 11) leaving about noon or 1 pm? Ideally with a sag wagon and someone with relatives in Nanaimo (or share motel room(s)) - this would allow f...

Content sounds good, Lister - maybe a Saturday morning? (early evening, as in 7 pm to 8:30 in September might work also) My sense is that people like me who value the opportunity to build vital skills are going to do the tradeoff vis a vis workout time. The Wednesday a.m. "farm team' ride might...

Now this is bike handling

As is so often the case, the 7 minute video of Cancellara's inspiring chase/descent has been removed due to copyright claims. However, there is a shorter version still on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_wEG2RNMJc And speaking of bike handling, recent adventures with the Tripleshot crew hav...
