Re: Cycling BC License Prices

Useful to compare to other provinces. Eg. Ontario https://ontariocycling.org/membership/ If I read it right, $120 just for the insurance part, plus $75-150 for actual licenses... That being said I do worry about a death spiral if fees go up too much and then people just exit and stop paying drives u...

Re: Liability insurance for non-club rides

After the ICBC rebates from no-fault, we get to navigate a new world as cyclists.... FWIW, checked with our home insurance, and the 3rd party liability portion of the home insurance would cover the scenario of my fragile body denting the hood of a poor motorist should ICBC come knocking for $s to re...

Re: Road Safety - how do we maximize it?

Anecdotally, I found my old 1st gen GoPro in the closet, and strapped it onto my seat post facing reward for a few rides. Observational bias, but it did seem like vehicles passing and overtaking me gave more space than usual! Not even sure if the old battery had the red light blinking or not, so an ...

Shotgun kids bike seat

Hit the trails with you little ones! Buy it early; we've only used it a bit, so excellent condition and original box. Our youngest got the chance to rip some fun trails, but bigger now and riding on her own.
Good to ~4-5yrs old depending on size.

Bakfiets cargo bike

Be the fastest and coolest parent in and out of the school dropoff! Seriously, this is the fastest cargo bike on the market; drives like a sports car, not a bus. And it's orange, which is fast. You can get a proper weekend training ride in and bring the kids along; they can do hand-ups to you and pa...

Re: Four reasons to renew your Tripleshot membership this week

I think a good value too in the medical expense insurance that comes with Cycling BC membership (even for the solo rides we're on now), but I can't seem to find any details on what it actually covers.

Does anyone have any actual legal description, and/or experience using the insurance?

As a doctor of the engineering persuasion with aero background, one of my thoughts is around pod formation patterns. A Belgian prof you may have seen had press in April for a paper http://www.urbanphysics.net/Social%20Distancing%20v20_White_Paper.pdf (not even peer reviewed yet!) on droplet transfer...

Re: Virtual training options

Bluetooth is nicest as you can tie right to computer (or smart phone in many cases). One thing you want to check is if the trainers you have have calibrations in Zwift. The speed sensor is then used against that calibration curve for the particular trainer to know how much power the avatar in the ga...

USA Cycling recommending no group rides.
And I was just about to be able to get out with the crew again with kiddos sleeping through the night!

Anyone have an old (but working) trainer they want to get rid of? Set my one kid up on my old one, and now the other wants to ride at same time too!

Looking at either panaracer Gravel King or Gravel King SKs (smooth vs with some tread) 38mm for the cross bike in spring/summer road and trail riding.

What are people finding the best around here for mixed riding fun?

Re: Looking to for input on and to borrow a set of rollers for a week.

Have tried rollers a few times; had to pay attention the whole time, and can't put down much power so useful for pedalling technique but not for improving power etc or trying to watch a movie etc.

How this would be fun to try!
