More civic engagement opportunities! Copied below is a post written by Todd Kalyniuk on behalf of the GVCC regarding the recent survey about bike parking downtown and recommendations to Council based on the results of that survey. There is an opportunity for cyclists to support the recommendations b...

Re: Community Event: Prospect Lake Road

I would like to show you a sample of what our advocacy and actions have achieved. The text below is copied from a page we used to plan our community event, written by one of the people who helped plan the event. I have heard the same sentiment from others in the area since we began working on this p...

Re: Community Event: Prospect Lake Road

You have hit the nail on the head, Martin. The speed reader signs are located at the most dangerous locations, where they measure speed of vehicles at their slowest speeds. It's also important to realize that the data from these readers represents the 85th percentile. So the (possibly most dangerous...

Re: Community Event: Prospect Lake Road

YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. Thanks so very, very much to John, Rolf, Andrew, Geoff, Dave, and Martin (I may have missed some, I was busy) for coming out today to ride with me and my neighbours. Mike Richards and Rui Bautista were also there. A few others rode by as we were gathering but had places to go ...

Re: Wednesday Cross

Thanks, guys! I'll be walking with my neighbours but your support will sure be appreciated. We have been assured that Saanich Police will be present on the road that morning to assist with safety - 500 cars per hour is no joke and we want everyone to stay safe, above all.

Sunday C Ride

This Sunday, Nov. 3, I am planning to do a road ride that ends at Western Speedway so I can heckle all my friends out on the 'cross course. :) The plan is to begin at Uptown Starbucks at 8am and finish at the Speedway about 60km later. A civil, steady pace. I'll try to post a route later. The more t...

Re: Community Event: Prospect Lake Road

Just a few stats: Neighbours have counted cars on Prospect Lk. Rd during rush hours. They count 400-500 cars per hour on Prospect during the morning and afternoon commute. The legal speed limit is 50kph. The "suggested" safe speed is 30kph.... When I drive at 40kmh I'm aggressively tail-ga...

Community Event: Prospect Lake Road

Just letting you know about an up-coming community event on Prospect Lk Rd Wednesday, Nov. 6th at 7:30am. Due to huge traffic volumes (I have counted up to 500 cars per hour) during the now-established "rush hours" on Prospect Lk Rd many local cyclists have stopped using the road during pe...

Re: Cumberland and Union

There is a meeting of Saanich's Planning, Transportation, and Economic Development Advisory Committee at Municipal Hall at 5:30 this Thursday night that is open to members of the public, in case anyone is interested in attending. As I understand it, road safety and vulnerable road users will be part...

Re: Interested in Racing Cross?

I'm glad you enjoyed the first session, Martin! You flatter me by labeling my enthusiastic cheering as "coaching" :) Session 2 is tonight and for those who don't know, it's being held at my home, 4017 Prospect Lk. Rd., just between Munn and Burnside. Anyone needing to arrive by car is welc...

I'm going out to the track early to help set up and to help with registration but it'll be great to see a few friendly TSC faces in the crowd :)

It was great to see you, Rolf!

We also had generous support/donations from Vessel Liquor (post-ride prosecco for everyone!), Fort St. Cycles, and 11-Speed Coffee.

Re: Victoria Women's 100 - Sunday, July 28th

We had a fantastic event! More than 60 women from all around the city (and Nanaimo) came together to ride. We had a strong contingent of support from Tripleshot members, both on an off bikes. Watch for this event again next year...when we will try to avoid putting it on the same day as the Big Loop :)

Yes, exactly what Andrew said! There may have been a note of desperation in a few of our voices as we were hanging onto wheels but you moved swiftly aside and there was no problem at all. Thanks for listening for us!

Victoria Women's 100 - Sunday, July 28th

Hey, there women of Tripleshot. Do you remember that great ride we had last summer where 65 women showed up at a moment's notice to ride together? It's back! This year's Victoria Women's 100 (with a 50km option for those looking for a shorter spin) is happening on Sunday. This annual ride is intende...
