Re: Cycling BC Upgrade Points

Hey Ryan,

I emailed Cycling BC for my upgrade points. I sent my VCL results from Duane's site in their XLS format and boom.... I'm a CAT3 now. Great one day turn around! I guess I'll see you in the A's now :)

Re: Road Racing on the Decline?

I for one didn't do Bastion due to the Tour De Victoria. I would guess there where a few folks in that same category. Racing VCL out in Langford with 20 other newbies is one thing...but racing downtown with Cat4s coming from Vancouver is whole different ball game. Add the tired legs from the Ryder r...

Training Plan for Vancouver to Whistler?

Hi All, With 7 weeks to go before 'Race' day I am starting to plan. Anyone got any advice for planning my training for V2W from now to race day. I have my base fitness covered. I feel stronger now than Tour De Victoria. My goal is to beat Alan's time of last year...therefore I by default should beat...

Re: Windsor Park - Sun Jul 24

Great race everyone! Again another fun race with the team plan met. Both Peter and I achieved our goals of getting enough points to apply for Upgrade for Cat3. We also beat my point combatant in the B series thus getting a few points closer to the title. I feel fortunate to not be racing against TSC...

Re: TdF Stage 18 - what a show

Ah...no mention of that Canadian guy? He was only a 3 minutes and change back! I think I recall a fine performance on D'Huez last year from our Victoria friend. He is honestly what got me racing! I'm really really hoping to see another top 10 in tomorrows stage. I heard his biggest strength compared...

Re: Caleb Pike July 20

Caleb ‘B’ was again a good learning experience. It was really cool to have 14 TSCers at the line in B’s. I think we ran a pretty good race for our relative inexperience. I felt really good for the whole race but deviated from the plan with the preem lap. My bad. I wasn’t really thinking I was really...

Yes and yes. But I won't be riding on the highway. I take the goose and then come out at the RCMP station then cross the highway.

Great report Dave. Congrats for making you average time goal. I know you put in a lot of hard work to make that.

Cheers, KJF

Mt Newton - July 13 2011

Doh! I'm an idiot! I raced Mt Newton tonight with Jeff and Hugh. I had a plan to keep up in the pack and ‘keep powder dry so to speak.’ AKA race a smart race. I have been planning this race for a few weeks, hoping it would be a course that suited my strengths. I made sure I had an 'easy' day Sunday....

Re: Caleb pike july 6 - race report

Race Report-Under blue skies and real heat, Caleb Pike started like one of the first races on the season. It had the pace of a coffee ride. Which to be honest suited me fine. In my first race this season I was jumpy. Yesterday I was trying to figure out how I could use the pace to my advantage. The ...

Re: Hurricane Ridge

Great write up Ryan. I was a bit scared of the weather but it was actually pretty pleasant. My Garmin said 18.1 at the top as we were leaving. I had a great ride chasing a slightly slower rider from the same team as Mike Neill who Ryan mentioned. I PB'ed since I was drafting the other rider for 90% ...
