Re: God, I miss this club

Hi everyone, Just checked the website (we ex-TSers do that now and again out of pure nostalgia), saw this thread and had to post as another summer 2010 member now overseas. I'm currently doing a PhD in Oxford, England, now into my second year, and after last year was sadly sidelined with cascading i...

A sincere thank-you (WARNING: sappy content alert!!)

Dear Tripleshotters As much as I wanted to get out for at least one more ride with the group before heading off to Oxford, I’ve had to accept that’s not going to happen as my knees still resist full recovery. As I can’t say it in person, I’ve had to post a dreaded sappy thank-you message on the foru...

Re: Cyclist physio approach to knee injury

Thanks Geoff, I have seen this now, really good suggestions and I think a new bike fit will be key once I'm up to biking again, unfortunately knees appear to heal quite slowly. I've had some success taping my patellas and pulling them inwards/sideway (its got me walking again, albeit rather tentativ...

Re: Anybody want Tripleshot water bottles?

Hi Geoff, Its been said but thanks again for doing this, very appreciated. I haven't been out at the last couple rides because, in my continuing search for the minimum number of injuries to prevent all physical activity, I've screwed up both knees enough I can't walk well right now, let alone bike. ...

Re: Hurricane Ridge - BC Day, Monday Aug. 2

Damn, would love to see what the view's like (first time up didn't really capture it), but I'm gone on a week long trip back to manitoba that also complies with doctors orders to stay off the bike for a bit (apparently it squishes my disc but I'm not convinced...). See you guys when I get back!

Re: Caleb Pike

Unfortunately, my back was feeling pretty odd post Sunday race/during the Tuesday ride, and despite pulling out of that halfway through it hasn't returned to normalish yet...I think I'm going to have to miss this one, which deserves my official first use of one of these guys :(

Oak Bay Crit

Fun new experience racing in a criterium today, the atmosphere was perfect thanks to ideal weather, a great crowd, a PA system keeping that crowd entertained and an actual motorbike preceding the racing!! B race, 40 minutes plus 2 laps, went out quickly and, hyped up after watching the C race, I fum...

Re: Sooo, should Contador have waited?

Lots of good points on here, its obviously not a clear cut situation either way. Having seen the race footage and the arguments my view is that a) he can't possibly have not seen Schleck or heard about it on the race radio but that b) his decision to attack is more a matter of personal preference. I...

Sooo, should Contador have waited?

Since the rest of the cycling world is going to debate it I thought I'd tap the collective experience of the TS forum: should Contador have sat up? For those who haven’t seen it, he attacked on the final climb of today’s stage after Andy Schleck had a chain jump off in the middle of an attack of his...

Re: Windsor Park session Monday 6 am

Great session this morning under coach Lister. We went over cornering technique one last time before the crit (my first!) next weekend, then some alternating fast and slow laps to put cornering into practice. Main focus was on coming out of the corner fast, on the front man's wheel and ready to jump...

Re: Thursday 6:00 Windsor Park Cornering Session

Thanks for the info Bryan, how are your knees after the week off? Did they feel less stiff fairly quickly (with the rest of the time off as a precaution to prevent recurrance) or did it take a while?

Re: UCI Group Sprint Rule

Hmm, have to say I agree with Lister after seeing the tape, looks like it was Dean that wasn't holding his line. One could agrue Renshaw's head movement was a bit over the top but as the commentator notes he can't take his hand off his bars and Dean is too far forward for him to use his shoulders. G...

Re: Wed July 14 Caleb Pike

B race was a bit different this week, slightly slower pace with a couple of riders on the front willing to counter moves but not launch any. With my knee acting up all week I was happy with a less intense central portion of the race, but huge kudos to Lister and Hugh for having goes off the front to...

Re: Thursday 6:00 Windsor Park Cornering Session

Hi Lister, sadly my knee has been bugging me all week and was pretty sore at the end of the race today...I think it's trying to tell me something. I'm going to take tomorrow off and see how it is on Friday.

Re: Windsor park Crit

Definately want to give this one a go as I've never tried a crit before, probably in the B group (men's elite sounds kind of, well, elite). Does it work the same way as the other VCL races (ie show up and sign up) or is there some kind of pre-race-day register?

Haha, its actually been three classes John, but I'll forgive you for bio 230 as it was a pretty huge group to keep track of names. First off, congrats to John for the win, he sportingly didn't mention his time on the front of the pack but was quite right in saying I was cooked by the end. I started ...

Re: Hurricane Ridge - July 1

Awesome first time up the ridge for me, spent most of the time on my own but had a good pace and got up the mountain faster then I'd hoped, passing the bottom cloud layer and snow as I went. I was actually quite a nice temperature untill I stopped at the top, after which the temp/energy spent climbi...
