Re: VCL SPEEDWAY - Wednesday, April 20

Despite the forecast, we had three races and no rain.... OK, no rain during the races. It did rain a little before we got going, so the track was a bit slick. The C race set the stage. Spencer and two TS youth broke out of the 'mature' group. This 3-man breakaway lasted for several early laps. The '...

No_Caleb_Pike_Race_Sunday

The Highlands council was unable to meet last week, and therefore unable to approve the Caleb Pike VCL race scheduled for this weekend. All the more reason to go to the open house at the track.

Cheers,

Re: WestshoreMotorsportPark_VCL_Race_1

Huge thanks to Bruce ? who took care of the registration, and to Bruce Falk and Patrick Burnham, who dealt with lap counting and chip-timing. We had about 50 racers out this evening: 12 in C, about 15 in B, and 22 in A. That last number surprised me. The A's not only showed up in large numbers but r...

I am posting here to catch as many people as possible. I will restrict myself to the Racing Section after this. I can't believe it, and I am organizing... the first Victoria Cycling League (VCL) race is next week! Our club supports/manages the races at Westshore Motorsport Park (formerly 'The Speedw...

Re: Peter

Peter invited me to join TripleShot during an Oak Bay ride. Like many of us, I feel he's the soul (not to mention the high school principle) of the club. By the way, my red 'CRAFT' jacket was a few days old at the time - 12 years later (or something like that), he finds it very amusing that I am sti...

RingRoad

I see from the 'Best pandemic project ever' post that at least some are still riding the Ring Road. Lots of construction going on there. In most cases, a lane will remain open, but see below for dates when the Ring stops being a ring. Phase 2 – May 11 to May 24 (Ring Road Closed, traffic diverted) R...

Re: Thurs TTT

TTT updates 1. Steel plates are now in place on Ring Road. They are thick and they didn't have 'mini-ramps' yesterday afternoon. 2. TTT tentatively included in 2020 VCL racing calendar (July 12th). I will have another look at the Ring Road today, but maybe we need an alternative for a while - major ...

Re: Thurs TTT

A reply: Morning Dr Taylor, Thanks for the heads up, I will let the contractors know you will be out there. Please also let the club know that we will have steel plates down for a while, ultimately in three locations around Ring Road (not all at the same time). Cheers Best regards, David Hill BA (Ho...

Thurs TTT

I just sent this to a UVic project manager. There will be lane closures on the Ring Road this Thursday. The meno I received says they'll get started at 7 AM. Dear David, I am a BIOL prof, and also a cyclist. The club I belong to, Tripleshot Cycling, uses the Ring Road on Thursdays for Team Time Tria...

Heidi has made a salmon stew... it's good. I mentioned it to remind you to bring bowls and a soup spoon as well as plates, knives and forks.

Re: How should I adapt my training as I get older?

I haven't posted for ages. Probably shouldn't today, cause you'll just think I'm a grumpy old man, which is fitting ;-) for this thread. "Do you want the bad news first? The body starts to slow down as we go past about 35 years of age. Now that’s out of the way, the good news is that these chan...

Re: TTT_Thurs

Hi JohnT_v2, The Thursday affair motivated my post, but as you wrote, experience from previous TTTs conditioned your killer instinct. My post was not a complaint about that particular incident. In case others are wondering, John's team was drafting 'my' team so closely that when I rolled to the back...

I think a discussion about last lap behaviour is worthwhile... For many in TripleShot (I include myself here) friendly competition is key. Even the 'competition' to get up at 5:30 AM matters (or at least used to matter) to me. Our competitiveness sometimes causes problems and our strength as a club ...
