All the best Ryan. We'll miss you at the BC Masters races on the Island. Oh, wait, there are ferries so maybe you will show up now and then? Regardless, happy racing/riding wherever you are. And, good luck with that work thing.... Maybe see you Thursday evening for the IRC ride?

The race goes from Glacier, Washington to Artist Point, past the Mt Baker upper ski lodge. This is one of the clas...

BC Masters - Cherry Point

This past Sunday's race, the last of the 2011 BC Masters series, was the fastest, most competitive and the most fun I have had racing this summer. The course offered many challenges. The weather was hot. The 50's group numbered 17 racers. In total I think 45 racers started in the various age groupin...

Re: Tough day at Ironman

Wishing you a speedy recovery. It sucks to crash out of a race. Having prepared for endurance events I can fully appreciate the disappointment. Good news is that you are in such great shape you will recover quickly. See you on the road!

BC Masters - Lake Cowichan

The 2nd to last road race in the BC Masters series for 2011 went yesterday in Lake Cowichan. The 63k route is, in a word, HILLY, times 2. A small (29) but enthusiastic group of racers turned out for a hot, hot day of racing. At the start my bike thermometer read 39C in the direct sun. Ryan C was the...

BC Masters - Cedar

That was fast..... 37 km average over the rolling 63k course. There was a very good turnout for the race today. 17 in the 50's group, 41 racers overall. For those who want a course that is fast and fair, put this one on your calendar for next year. The overall top 5 in today's event went to members ...

Re: Metchosin Masters Road Race, Sunday

I'm in for the race. I rode a couple of practice laps this morning to check out the hills and corners. Two smallish hills, both short. Lots of downhill with easy corners. The long straightaway when you get back on Rocky Point Road may well be the hardest part. It's long and goes to a max of 5% at th...

Re: BC Masters - Mill Bay and Goldstream Heights Hill Climbs

X2 for me. Ryan, it must have been the sun, or the water, or the beef..... My sub-standard performance was rewarded by a sub-standard result = DNF. Felt ready to rock at the start and went out too hard. The large 50's group shredded when the 40's group went by. I noticed Ryan faded at the same time,...

BC Masters - Mill Bay and Goldstream Heights Hill Climbs

Great day for racing. The first race, kind of a warm up, was a 600 M ugly little hill in Mill Bay. I had a good result, 5th overall (2 min, 30 secs, unadjusted by age time) and 2nd in my age group. The second race was a 9k hill climb that ended at the high point on the Goldstream Heights road. I was...
