Re: Wednesday Munnsy: hills + sunshine early in the morning

Hey, who's up for an early morning kick ass hill workout? I'll be at the switch bridge at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow for the reinstated Wednesday Munn Road hill ride.

Don't make me do that hard ride alone, although it might be more relaxed if I do! Hope to see you there. Lisa

Re: Spin classes with a twist

Wes contacted me today to let me know that the new Saturday spin class will start this Saturday, Nov. 12th at 7:00 a.m. It will be a 90 minute class of intervals simulating real workouts you would do on the road. His fitness studio, located at 582 Johnson Street, is fully equipped with the latest sp...

Re: Spin classes with a twist

I'm excited that there is some interest in this!

Louise, to answer your question, Wes has brand new high quality spin bikes in the studio, but I'm pretty sure there is room for bikes and trainers too. He has a big studio with all the amenities, so showers, etc included.

Spin classes with a twist

It seems like it might be one of those wetter than usual and possibly colder than usual winters. Because I'm not as adventurous as some and haven't ventured into cross, and I'm not as brave as others so not as much into riding in the dark and wet as I have been in the past (a couple of crashes will ...

Re: Tuesday B1 crash

Marc and Mike, I was distressed to hear about your accident. There's no two ways about it - that is just crappy and it sucks, and I feel terrible for you both. The wild life seem to be an increasing threat, and there is no good answer. Our group had a very close call that morning too with a couple o...

Well that sounds fun, I'm in! Any chance of a slightly later start, like 7? It's expected to be a cooler day tomorrow.

I'd be interested in this ride if there was a B1 type group wanting to go a little faster. Anyone interested?

Yet another Sunday ride alternative

Garth and I are planning another trip out to Metchosin/Sooke area tomorrow to get a few hills and a bit more distance in. We're planning to leave Cook Street Starbucks at 7:30 a.m and hope to cover 100K or so with around 1300 to 1500m of climbing. B1 type pace. Let us know if you want to join us. Lisa

Re: Wednesday Munns?

We had an awesome and spirited ride out to the highlands this morning. Only four of us - Jesse, Garth, Claire and I, which meant we regrouped at the top so I could stay in contact with the others  A good time was had by all, and by good time, I mean the high lasted right until about 15 minute...

Re: Wed. morning hammer

Thanks Claire for organizing a terrific 2 hour ride in the country today. Nice little group of hammer heads showed up and enjoyed a scenic, up tempo, lumpy loop around the Highlands area. It was nice to do some different hills on a Wednesday for once

alternate rides for Friday, July 1st

For those of us who can't do Hurricane Ridge that day due to other commitments (grrr), I'm assuming that there is a regular 6:00 a.m. Friday morning ride? Is there also a 7:30 a.m. holiday ride? I'll have to settle for one or both of those instead

Don't believe that girl, she'll be riding Sunday for sure! :P

I'm interested in joining you Craig, and I'd be REALLY interested if departure was at 7:00 a.m. instead of 6. It is a holiday afterall...

Just wanted to check in and say a big THANK YOU for all the thoughtful comments and warm sentiments that have been posted and sent to me directly. I feel very blessed to have such caring people around me. I really hope you'll all come to my funeral when that happens - it would be great to have some ...

Re: Todays Crash

Thank you all for your concern and comments. I am ok, no broken bones, just road rash, bruises and a big headache. I elected not to go to the hospital as I had lots of interaction with Chris and Craig at the scene and afterward, and felt that it was a reasonable decision. I am very grateful for all ...

I'm pretty sure they would take immediate account of that look of utter disgust on his face, and notice the one foot radius "no go zone" of personal space he has erected around him, and opt to leave that particular intruder out of the circle of love. Ne piques pas que l'ours! I, on...

10 Best things about Nice, France

I'm in Nice, France, which is a very NICE place to be, even in January. I'm here for two weeks with some friends to ride my bike, tour around, and take in the local culture. Fortunately, I have my own tour guide, an ex-pro cyclist who lives here 6 months of the year. He knows the area intimately and...

Re: Sale on winter gloves and booties at Trek Store

That's great, and thanks for this Garth. But do any of the gloves actually work?? I have about 8 pairs at home made of various "winter hardy" materials and NONE of them are terribly effective. The closest I've found are my neoprene gloves with thin wool gloves underneath. But even those we...

Re: Merry Christmas!!!

Neil, since you've clearly drawn my bike into your card, I guess I better take 10. Just a note for next time - my rims are pink too, and the little man, that should probably be a stick woman maybe with a tiera. :D

Nice job by the way!
