Or the Trans-America Trail - another bi-coastal trip mainly off-road on a mountain-bike: https://bikepacking.com/plog/trans-america-off-road-trail-odyssey/ Or heck- the GDMBR from Banff (though as of 2019 it's now from Jasper) to Antelope Wells, NM on the Mexican border: https://bikepacking.com/rout...

Rob- I love resurrection tales like yours; I bow deeply to your stubborn-ass, knuckle-headed persistence. Where the mind goes the body frequently follows. For worse- or better. Keep us posted on your hero's journey.

Re: A question for the doctors: how many Tylenol can I take?

Rob - I'm a doc AND have occasional low back pain on really long rides (12-14 hours daily for 27 days ina row on the GDMBR last summer) so I empathize...the better question isn't what/how much pills should you take but rather "what's the best way to prevent/manage back pain on long rides?"...

Manta5 Hydrofoil waterbike: no helmet required!

https://manta5.com/

Same great workout... Just no cars, traffic lights, deer-strikes, gravel, crappy road surface, black ice, beet-red-faced F150 drivers screaming self-righteous nonsense.

Oh- and top speed 22kph, cruises at 15kph, capable of water starts.

Coming fall 2019.

Wow- nicely done Ted- both film and epic ride- thanks for sharing. Beautiful time lapse shot at 3:41. And finishing with a wee climb up Observatory- that's suffering for your art!

Re: Breaking news: Cyclist pinned under van on Munn at Prosp

Yikes- rode right past that intersection less than 24 hours ago. I imagine cyclist was descending Munn's at speed and car did rolling stop coming off Prospect, didn't see them and pulled right into their path. Fingers crossed...that could have been be any of us.

Is Cycling Killing Us? - part 2

Stan- thanks for sharing your experience; as another (non-expert) doc weighing in it's clear there's a relationship between AF risk in the aging athelete and exercise- both duration and intensity. I wonder if, at least a large number of athletic AF cases, the uniting underlying cause is the insidio...

A counterpoint to the worthwhile earlier discussion on the risks of extreme exercise- if there's a fountain of youth it probably contains some sweat:

Re: TS Winter Spin Gym: who's interested?

Owen- location/schedule etc all TBD- at this point all we're trying to determine is whether there's sufficient interest to justify the effort required to make this happen. We'd like to aim for at least 3-4 sessions per week of 1-2 hours with at least, say, 6 people attending. it's early days so ther...

TS Winter Spin Gym: who's interested?

There's been some chat (Peter L;, Brian S.) about setting up a super low-cost winter group spin classes; this is to gauge interest. - initial trial from roughly October to March - 10 or so Keiser spin bikes (the ones with power meters/cadence etc) - schedule TBD but at least 3 morning classes per we...
