Re: Safety--passing commuter cyclists

So I yelled at him  As we approached on the downhill at Arbutus, I was in the front and sat up and called out 'There's a commuter on the right' when only about 30 - 40 feet behind the commuter. That call was to both alert the riders behind, as well as let the commuter know there was someone co...

Re: Family Day - Sunday Ride

It may be a good idea to start at 8:00. The extra half hour of sunshine may make a difference on the roads. It's already 0 on part of the route.

Re: A nice early steady ride on Saturday (a.k.a. Sufferfest

I probably should have 'Rolf'ed this morning. Instead I headed out just after 6:00 to try and intercept the sufferfest, but must have been behind. There was a fair amount of frost, which made the downhills and curves a little nerve wracking, but managed to stay upright. On Ash, halfway between the b...

Hey Marc,

I left your bike at Trevor and Tammy's (the house that was right there). If you need a hand, I could pick it up and drop it off at your place. Let me know,

Re: disc brakes no longer welcome in pro peleton

I understand your logic, but in an accident bikes end up in all positions. While Ventoso's may have always faced forward, the bike he made contact with may have spun around. What I found most interesting was the extent of the injury even though Ventoso remained on his bike the entire time. I'm not p...

Re: disc brakes no longer welcome in pro peleton

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ventoso-injured-by-disc-brake-at-paris-roubaix/ The article reports that the disc brake was from the bike of a Direct Energie rider although does not name who. Direct Energie was one of a number teams trialling the disc brake system at the Classics “It was so deep tha...

disc brakes no longer welcome in pro peleton

Sunday during the Paris-Roubaix race, a rider's leg was sliced open by a disc brake. Only 32 of the over 200 riders were using disc brakes. Here are two articles, one discussing the incident from the rider's perspective, and the second with the UCI announcement... http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ven...
