Re: Tripleshot crap flaps for sale

@Barton - I paid for a set of flaps (and a couple of bottles) without taking careful note of your address, then promptly forgot I’d done anything at all. Mary’s recent post in Spond triggered my inadequate memory and here we are.

How to find you so that I can pick things up this weekend?

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Am I the only one who is intimidated by the idea of striking forth on possibly unknown trails in the bush solo? Perhaps it is my wild imagination but I think of carnivores, mechanicals and getting hopelessly lost.... Maybe we could form some socially distanced "teams" for these route chal...

Re: Gravel ride "with friends" (but actually solo)

Unless this is going to be a running thing! In which case Rolf’s ideas probably run better. An idea on that note: what if each time someone does a route, they nominate the next person? So Claire would nominate #2 and so forth and each week or so we get a fresh challenge in place of the usual Sunday ...

Re: Solo rides

Louise: see my last comment above. FWIW I think we’ve moved past the “50 person rule“ At this stage—they’re just being very careful about anything approaching a lockdown in hopes that recommendations will Be enough to drive public behaviour. Catch up on what Henry and Dix have been saying for the pa...

Re: Just in case

If you aren’t working or things are just tight and you run out of food, please don’t go to sleep with an empty stomach. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message, text, call. I will be more than happy to share what food I have. We will never speak about it again. I will drop and go...

Re: Solo rides

It’s a good book! But I’ll take an untimely death over that dystopia any day. 😏 @Louise: I think the difference in messaging you’re seeing is between “requirements” and “strong recommendations.” They seem to be working hard to hold off putting the country on lockdown as we’ve seen in other places, a...

Re: Solo rides

I mostly ride solo, sometimes ride with my family*, and very occasionally with a trusted friend. In a pair, we distance >> 2-10 meters when stopped or moving slowly, and >> 30 meters at speed, and cautiously in gnarl (see this video ). Fair enough! If you’re able to pull that off, it’s probably no ...

Re: Solo rides

I agree with Claire here, and can even admit to hesitating on offering those well-earned “kudos” on Strava when it’s clear that riders are obviously still heading out in pairs or groups. I can’t help seeing it as a pretty flagrant flouting of civic duty in this context. Sure, you can tell yourself t...

Sorry to be missing this one—such a fun route. But my wife and I are at OBBH on a 24hr kid-free pass and I’d be forfeiting the marriage if I snuck away now.

Still, it’s tempting...

Drawn in by your rhyme, I’ll be there on time
Unless sleep or the kids hold me back.
For the promise of mud and some coffee and grub
Fills a need when I’d otherwise lack.

I’m into it. Today’s R&R turned into a 10k run to escape my children so I could use the reduced gnarl factor on this one.

See you folks at 7:30 👋🏻
